Hi, I'm Stephanie Roberts
A global communications leader, rare in perspective and place — an American woman on assignment in Japan

About Me

Hi, I’m Stephanie.
As Head of Global Communications for Hitachi Industrial Equipment Systems, I lead a team responsible for executive and internal communications, branding, public relations, crisis communications, social media, the company website and events. We bring our company’s vision to life, showcasing the innovation, dedication and impact behind everything we do.
What sets me apart? Nearly three years ago, I moved to Tokyo as the first expat ever sent to our headquarters — a rare and rewarding opportunity, especially as an American woman. Living and working in a different culture has fundamentally shaped how I lead, adapt and communicate. I also work with teams across the Americas, China, Southeast Asia, EMEA and Australia, giving me a truly global perspective.
I’m driven by two things: the power of storytelling — whether it’s celebrating employees or making complex topics clear — and my love of exploring different cultures. I’ve traveled to 30+ countries and am always looking for my next adventure.
I hold a Master of Science in Communications from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from DePaul University.
Outside of work, you’ll find me running, hiking, traveling and tracking down the best restaurants wherever I go.
I enjoy connecting with new people, so please find me on LinkedIn where I often share my perspective on communications and being an expat with more than 13,000 followers.
